There is no such thing as gentrification in Detroit

The fact that some metro Detroiters continue to claim that there is what the rest of the country defines as “gentrification” merely demonstrates that a lot of people around here do not understand the meaning of the term.   You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who has actually been displaced by the current development in Corktown.

Only one neighborhood (Midtown) is experiencing anything remotely close to gentrification.

As long as the media keeps perpetuating this nonsense, I’m going to have to continue correcting them.
